Think it’s important to attend college and obtain a bachelor’s degree to get a decent, well-paid job? You may want to revisit it. There are plenty of jobs and careers with great salaries–and many of them require only a year or two’s worth of training.

1. A Specialist in Medical Billing.

Medical billing technicians are paying $15.76 an hour on average, says PayScale1. The average salary varies by place and position, but can range from $25,073 to $45,154.

Health billing technicians deal for a health bureau’s finances. They submit and process patient bills, follow up to ensure payment. I also deal regularly with insurance companies and contracts, government services and various kinds of medical processes.

Qualifications Needed

You need only a bit of preparation to become a medical billing technician. The ins and outs of medical billing and coding would need to be learnt. A lot of people take courses for this at their local community college. Those courses can be completed online or in person in as few months.

Study.com states that there is no appropriate degree or qualification to become a medical billing technician. However, for more experience, you also have the option of obtaining a certificate or associate degree in the area.

2. Paralegal

PayScale estimates that a paralegal’s average annual earnings exceed $60,614 and varies depending on the degree and position of the work. This breaks down to an estimated $20.62 per hour.

Paralegals work as a member of the legal staff in law firm offices. Their main responsibility is to conduct analysis which will be used to support clients and cases. These will also enable attorneys in the legal system to file motions, memorandums and briefs. Paralegals often operate outside the attorneys ‘ offices, supporting companies or organizations within their legal departments.

Qualifications Needed

There are a few approaches to become a professional paralegal. You will first select your level of education–you can study to receive either a certificate of paralegal, a degree of associate, or a bachelor’s diploma. You may want to take legal specialization courses while researching which are intended to provide you with legal history, procedures and case studies. You can study in person or online and the duration of your course depends on the program you select. When you want to receive a degree from an associate, you can plan to study for about two years.

3. Odontologist

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that in 2018 the average wage for dental hygienists was $74,820 a year. That means the average dental hygienist receives an hourly rate of $35.07.

In nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, correctional institutions or even in-home care, nursing assistants can work. You’ll need a post-secondary degree or diploma to become a nursing assistant or a CNA–meaning you’ll need to graduate from high school and get an education in nursing. According to Study.com, you will also need to pass a state test and receive a certificate (for a CNA position or title)

You would need to start studying the basics before you can take a State test or get your certificate. You will need to study inside a state-approved curriculum. Usually, services are accessible by such organisations as the American Red Cross, community schools, and even medical centres. 5. Web Builder

PayScale estimates a web developer’s average salary is $57,628 per annum, or $19.40 an hour. You can receive up to $81,000 per annum if you have more experience or advanced knowledge.

Web developers are responsible for designing websites and developing programming for the tools that people use online, with more and more things taking place online. You will find jobs in the field and start a career as a web developer if you have enough experience, expertise and specialisation.

The first step in becoming a Web developer is to learn the requisite skills. You may need to learn –and become professional in–various software programs such as JavaScript and CSS, different programming languages, and the website creation process. Classes can be taken at a community college or online. There are several online bootcamps and courses that you can take right from home, some at a small price or even for free.
